Guardians right-hander Cal Quantrill throws seven shutout innings in beating the Padres, who drafted him and traded him away for Mike Clevinger
They’ve won each of Quantrill’s last nine starts , which included besting the team that drafted him eighth overall in 2016. Quantrill also threw six innings of three-run ball at the Padres in Cleveland in a no-decision in May.

He could count on one hand the number of a players he remembers in a navy-blue-themed clubhouse — not brown — when he last appeared in the majors on Aug.
“It was exciting after three years,” Castillo said Wednesday afternoon. “I tried to control the emotions.”
