Fernando Tatis Jr. 'can't wait' to put on a show again for Padres fans at Petco Park

The first time the heckling really caught Fernando Tatis Jr.’s attention — the “He’s on steroids!” chant from the right field bleachers at Wrigley Field — the 24-year-old danced it off like only he can. If he wasn’t wearing a ski mask to battle the elements, you might have been able to see a smile as he waved to the crowd at the end of his little shuffle.

But he’s got an idea of what to expect at Petco Park as he takes the field in front of a San Diego crowd for the first time since Sept. 26, 2021.“They’ve been there,” Tatis said. “ … They’ve been loud. They’ve been amazing. I can’t wait to perform in front of them.” Tatis, however, was among the first position players through the clubhouse doors. He dressed near the home run sombrero hanging between his and Manny Machado’s lockers as about a dozen reporters crowded around, as Tatis’ home debut was the next logical checkpoint to chronicle on his trail back from the PED suspension that barred him from playing at all last year.
