Padres right-hander Yu Darvish throws three innings before exiting with left hamstring tightness
Yu Darvish exited Wednesday’s 9-1 loss to the Marlins after three innings with tightness in his left hamstring. He was not available after the game as he was undergoing testing away from Petco Park. “It wasn’t overly significant, but felt it,” Padres manager Mike Shildt said. “Still coming out good. He was pitching pretty well, but once he had the longer inning in the third it just made sense to go ahead and go to the bullpen.
And then the long inning in the third, started to feel like he was maybe starting to feel a little compromised. So we obviously did something about it.” Added catcher Luis Campusano: “If you were watching I think you could see a difference. Just really couldn't close on that front side. I thought he did the best that he could. He could have easily have just said I gotta problem. I don't want to start. But he went out there and still competed.
