KUCHING: There is no delay on payment to the work package contractors (WPCs) of the Pan Borneo Highway project in Sarawak, says Lebuhraya Borneo Utara Sdn Bhd (LBU).
According to LBU, the payment is expected to arrive around this time as per the agreement with the WPCs.
"Some of them haven't been paid since July. They are very concerned because if they are not paid on time, how can they proceed well?" Baru had said on Wednesday , adding that the ministry would speed up the payment process to within 30 days once it takes over the project in February 2020. In its statement, LBU said the payment process was clearly stipulated in the project delivery partner agreement and made known to all WPCs since the start of the project.
"There are often cases where corrections or amendments have to be made. This can delay the government’s certification of the IPC," LBU said.
