Patrick Stewart has discussed how he thinks ProfessorX would feel about DoctorStrange.👀 '[He] would be extraordinarily cautious, and watchful, and perhaps feel a little insecure...There is something... potentially dangerous about this man.'
According to Patrick Stewart, the X-Men's Professor X would be deeply suspicious should he encounter Stephen Strange in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The multiverse lies at the heart of the MCU's Phase 4 slate, offering an opportunity for superhero team-ups on a previously unimagined scale. Already that potential has been realized in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw Tom Holland's Peter Parker working alongside Tobey Maguire's and Andrew Garfield's.
The Super Bowl trailer for Doctor Strange 2 featured a very familiar voice - that of Patrick Stewart, presumably playing Professor X once again. Stewart initially avoided commenting, insisting the voice wasn't his, but little by little he's breaking under sustained questioning, well aware fans are thrilled at the prospect of seeing him reprise the role of Charles Xavier in an MCU movie.
The trailers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have avoided confirming just who the villain really is. They've shown shots of the Elder God Shuma-Gorath - confirmed to be renamed Gargantos in the MCU, because Marvel don't have the rights to the name"Shuma-Gorath" - but this monstrous being hasn't really seemed threatening enough in the various shots.
If this is the case, then Professor X's encounter with Doctor Strange may not go well. Ominously, during the same interview Stewart explicitly compared his other iconic character, Jean-Luc Picard, to Charles Xavier - and noted that, unlike the Professor, Picard would never die. He may have been alluding to Professor X's death in Logan, but his words felt a little too familiar - as though reflecting on something a lot more recent.
