Barangay Ginebra head coach Tim Cone acknowledged that he's not sure if Greg Slaughter will be coming back in case the PBA resumes play amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Cone said in an online interview that he tried reaching out to Slaughter, who announced a sabbatical from the PBA last February.
"We tried to contact him a couple of times, he hasn't responded. So we don't know if he's going to come back, but we know just like everybody else he's working out," Cone said. "The last we heard, he's going to make a tryout with the NBA G League. I don't know if that's true, I heard that from a third party.Slaughter had a falling out of sorts with Ginebra after failing to get a contract extension from the team. "It’s gonna be tough because he can be a force at times and it’s just really tough having something ripped away from you like that without having being given anything in return," Cone said.
"But we’ll find ways to replace him, maybe a little more Japeth , maybe a little bit more Stanley , maybe Prince Caperal steps up, we have other options.”
