Good health had become his mantra, and he found it through lean meats and whole foods. While showing photos of his meal preparation on Instagram, Houston-area residents responded that they wanted to buy those meals from him, and Johnson's side gig, Modern Soul, was born. He and Ashley started work on the changes in his main living area in December 2019, finishing in early March 2020, just before the pandemic set in.
Ashley made good on her promise of a journey, and she started in the foyer, where she installed a large mural of a world map fromIn the kitchen, they painted perimeter cabinets white and added new hardware and new back-splash tile. They replaced the small, two-seat island with a larger one that seats four, painted it a orange and topped it with a concrete counter. The larger island also accommodated a wine refrigerator, which Johnson had always wanted.
