Pearland's annual Concerts in the Park series will be held every Friday from 7-9 p.m. in May at Southdown Park. 2150 Countryplace Parkway, and June in Independence Park, 3449 Pearland Parkway.Kicking off on Cinco de Mayo with a Selena tribute band, the city of Pearland'sis set for the summer with artists performing music varying from country to Tejano to rock.

The free concerts will run from 7-9 p.m. every Friday for nine weeks, and will offer mobile food vendors. May shows will be at Southdown Park, 2150 Countryplace Parkway, while shows in June will be held at Independence Park, 3449 Pearland Parkway.Outside food, drinks and alcoholic beverages are allowed, but glass and smoking are prohibited. The city encourages people to bring plastic containers if they decide to bring alcohol.

The city estimates the shows will average 500-600 visitors each week, with attendance expected to increase after the school year ends. Many local bands and musicians were eager to participate in the concerts, said Lindsey Taylor, the city's parks and recreation special event coordinator.In honor of Juneteenth, the city has scheduled a local Zydeco-style band, Davi Jay and Bourbon Street, for its June 16 concert.May 5: Queen of Tejano & Latin Tribute PEARLAND INSIDER:
