Pearland shuts out Iowa team, stays alive in Little League World Series

“We had a few options, but this pretty much went to script,” Pearland manager Aaron Cummings said. “Jake giving us three innings with 35 pitches. You want to get two, at a minimum, but I thought he’d be able to squeeze into a third, so finishing three was very helpful. The win, less than 24 hours after suffering the first loss of the summer, extends Pearland’s season at least one more day as one of eight teams out of the original field of 20 to still be in title contention.
Manny Castillo teamed with Shelton, the winning pitcher, to lead the Pearland offense Tuesday while Zurek and Kahn started and finished the pitching performance.
