“Ningún equipo mexicano lo había hecho entonces. Estuvimos trabajando, haciendo investigación, buscando contactos y finalmente logramos acceder a este laboratorio clandestino del Cártel de Sinaloa donde logramos documentar cómo se produce el fentanilo en México”, remarcó Valles. La motivación detrás de abordar este tema peligroso y delicado fue explicada por Valles Mata, quien destacó que su enfoque en el periodismo de inmersión en México los llevó a indagar el fentanilo como una parte inicial de un problema más amplio: el comercio ilegal en el país.
