The Lord Of The Rings director and Thor: Ranorak's Taika Waititi are 'devastated'.
New Zealand’s movie personalities have banded together against the shootings in Christchurch on Friday that left at least 50 people dead.
Lord Of The Rings director Peter Jackson, who is from Pukerua Bay, which is near the capital of Wellington, said in a statement on Saturday to Variety that “New Zealanders are devastated. Our hearts go out to all those who have been harmed by this cowardly act of hate. Kiwis stand united in our love and support for our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters. We will do whatever we can to help them heal and rise above this terrible tragedy.
On Friday, fellow countryman Taika Waititi took to Twitter to express his sentiments towards the attacks. Said the Thor: Ragnorak director, who was born on New Zealand’s North Island in Raukokore and grew up in the capital of Wellington: “My heart is broken. My country is weeping and so am I. I am dying knowing that this kind of hatred can happen in my homeland.
