UPDATE: Phoenix police say officers shot and killed an armed man who was allegedly drinking and driving. abc15
Officials say police received a call around 2:30 p.m., about a truck driving erratically and someone possibly drinking while driving.
That caller then followed the suspected drunk driver to an apartment complex near 12th Street and Bell Road, according to officials. Once the vehicle parked, officers went to talk to the driver and noticed there was a rifle in the front of the truck. Officials say the man was cooperative at first during the DUI investigation. At some point, officials say the man went back to his truck and grabbed a handgun that was in the door of the truck.The man was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.The area will be closed during the investigation, according to officials.This marks the fourth deadly officer-involved shooting this week.
