BRADENTON, Fla. -- Thunder Bay's Jack Pineau was tagged with the loss on Saturday as Canada opened the WSBC U18 Baseball World Cup with a 3-2 loss to Brazil.Pineau, who came on in relief, retired six of the first seven batters he faced, the only base runner the result of an error with two out in the fourth.
Pineau hit Julian Takeda to open the sixth, the with two outs and a runner aboard, hit pinch-hitter Nickolas Oliveria after an error allowed a second Brazilian batter to reach. Nuno Borges took advantage of the bases-loaded situation, singling in a pair of runs to end Pineau's night and put his team in front 3-2.
Canada scored its runs in the first and third to take an early 2-0 lead. Brazil got one back in the bottom of the third
