A video capturing a PMD rider speeding and crashing on West Coast Highway in Singapore has sparked online criticism. The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, lost control of their device and flipped over, despite the presence of a motorcyclist recording the incident. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) reminds riders of the regulations regarding PMD usage and the importance of prioritizing safety.

A personal mobility device ( PMD ) rider was captured on dashcam speeding down the left-most lane of West Coast Highway in Singapore before losing control and crashing. The incident occurred early morning at 1.55am, with the motorcyclist recording the footage traveling at 37km/h in the middle lane.

The PMD rider, who was not wearing a helmet, briefly glanced over his shoulder at the motorcyclist before careening out of control and flipping over, thankfully remaining out of the motorcyclist's path. The video, widely shared on social media, sparked criticism from many netizens who expressed disapproval of the PMD rider's reckless behavior. One Facebook user commented, highlighting the potential danger to the rider's loved ones, urging him to prioritize his safety and consider the consequences of his actions. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) in Singapore regulates the use of PMDs on public paths under the Active Mobility Act (AMA). E-scooters and other motorized PMDs are permitted only on designated shared paths, also known as cycling paths. Using them on pedestrian-only paths, footpaths, or roads can result in hefty fines of up to $2,000 and imprisonment for up to three months. Additionally, the e-scooter or PMD can be confiscated and forfeited. The LTA strongly advises PMD riders to adjust their speed according to their surroundings, particularly when navigating areas with pedestrians
