New York Police found bags of fentanyl under the floor at Divino Niño day-care center in the Bronx, where a baby, Nicholas Dominici, died of a suspected overdose.
Images shared by the police showed transparent bags with white and brown powdered substances, beneath a wooden trapdoor. Mendez denied to authorities that there were drugs in the day care and suggested that the drug paraphernalia may have been left by another tenant, the complaint stated. Acevedo Brito denied knowing anything about the drugs or about the paraphernalia.Police said Mendez called 911 at about 2:40 p.m. on Sept. 15, reporting that three kids — ranging from 8 months to 2 years old — needed medical attention. All three were taken to a hospital, where Dominici was pronounced dead.
