A popular Austin event is changing because of the extreme heat. The Maudie's Moonlight Margarita Run will start two hours later.
AUSTIN, Texas — Summer heat is leading to changes at a popular Austin fun run.are pushing back their start time for Wednesday’s fun run two hours from the prior year. It will now start at 8 p.m.
“Anytime you have an event kicking off the summer in Texas, you just got to sort of reevaluate every year, and that’s what we did,” said Cofer. “We’ve bumped it later before, but this year, particularly after the heat last summer was so awful,” said Cofer. “It’s obviously pretty bad right now. So, we’re doing it so we get out of those heat advisories.”During a heat safety news conference on Tuesday at Austin City Hall, Austin and Travis County leaders said they’re watching the heat closely too.
