A photo of a passenger eating porridge on the Singapore MRT sparked a debate online about acceptable behavior on public transport. While some found it amusing, others expressed concern about potential hygiene issues and called for better enforcement of rules. This incident follows other examples of passengers engaging in unconventional activities on the MRT, such as bringing birdcages and sleeping on seats.
SINGAPORE : “Seeing people drink or hold BBT in MRT : normal. Eating porridge in MRT : legend.” This was what a concerned online user wrote in a complaint forum on Monday evening , sharing a photo of an MRT passenger with a bowl of porridge onboard public transportation. MRT cars are no stranger to such behaviour by passengers. Back in November 2024, two elderly men allegedly brought birdcages aboard an MRT car.
Two uncles allegedly bring birdcages aboard MRT, passengers say videos on loudspeaker are worse than chirping “Just inform her la, if she’s not cooperating, just report to station guardians, and she deserves the fines for it,” said one. “Let people do their own things if it doesn’t bother ,” wrote another.
