Thousands of KwaZulu-Natal school children spent a few days after the Easter break with no meal at school after food wasn't delivered.
The food distribution model was recently changed, with the bulk of the R2 billion scheme going to one supplier. At a briefing in Durban on Wednesday, Mtolo said the ANC in KZN had sent a list of demands to the provincial government to ensure the programme doesn't completely collapse."The ANC is directing its government to make sure that by Tuesday, 2 May 2023, every school in the province of KwaZulu-Natal has enough food for the whole month of May.
"Financial Treasurer must come closer to the supply chain management processes as the Public Finance Management Act. "All contracts associated with this programme should pass the scrupulous test of value for money through a fair and transparent competitive process."
