Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will spend this Christmas, their first as parents to son Archie, apart from the rest of the royal family.
The duke and duchess will instead spend the Christmas holiday with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, a spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed Wednesday.
The duke and duchess have spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, where Britain's royal family gathers for Christmas traditions that date back centuries. William and Kate, the parents of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, have sometimes in the past opted out of the royals' Christmas dinner so they can enjoy Christmas evening with Kate's family. In-laws are not typically invited to the royals' Christmas celebrations.
Harry also specifically addressed in the documentary rumors of a rift between him and William, his older brother and only sibling. "The majority of the stuff is created out of nothing but as brothers it’s just as I said, you have good days, you have bad days," he said.
