Private equity billionaire Leon Black sent a letter to employees addressing his Jeffrey Epstein ties
got into hot water recently for his past ties to Jeffrey Epstein, who has been charged with sex trafficking. On Friday, Black sent a company-wide email to Apollo employees, where he explained that he was unaware of Epstein’s alleged criminal behavior, but didn’t address reports that he donated to an Epstein related charity after Epstein served time for prostitution charges.reviewed, says that Apollo, which manages $303 billion in assets, has never been involved in any business with Epstein.
Black reportedly met Epstein in the late 1990s and struck up a friendship with him, and Epstein served at the Debra and Leon Black Family Foundation for a decade. After news broke that Epstein was a director with the charitable organization until 2012 — even though he pled guilty to two prostitution charges in Florida in 2008 — the foundation disputed the connection.
