Chestermere residents call on premier to remove council abpoli
In a written statement, the mayor accused Sywenky and others who have written to the province of “doing anything they can to attack the current council.” He said the group represents a minority in the city.
“We understand the frustration that many Chestermere residents are feeling, and we are grateful for their continued patience as we prepare to take the next step in the inspection process, which will be the release of the inspection report and related information at a public meeting on March 15 in Chestermere,” said Puddifant.
Mount Royal University political scientist Lori Williams says the situation in Chestermere is “very, very highly charged,” with residents becoming increasingly upset by what she said has been a lengthy period of dysfunction at city hall. “But it may be reached in this case, frankly, just because of the depth of the dysfunction and the amount of time this has been going on,” said Williams.
