People gathered along the route from a Riverside mortuary to Harvest Christian Fellowship, where a funeral is scheduled.

Some gathered at Harvest Christian Fellowship early Friday, where the funeral is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.“It was senseless,” she said of the fatal Dec. 29 shooting. “It could have been prevented. It’s really sad.”

The Patriot Guard Riders, a motorcycle group that honors first responders and veterans, also milled about near the church Friday morning. Jeff Amend, 66, has been a member of the group since 2015, and said his comrades would stand near the entrance of the church, American flags in hand, when Cordero’s casket drives by.

“We do it to honor our veterans and law enforcement,” Amend said. “These are the people who put their lives on the line every day.” Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside will be the site Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, for a celebration of life for slain Riverside County sheriff’s Deputy Isaiah Cordero.
