Star Trek: Prodigy creators Kevin and Dan Hageman discuss why it's great to have Star Trek super fans like Jason Alexander and Jameela Jamil voicing characters in the animated series. The Paramount+ series kicked off season 1.5 right where the midseason finale left off: The ragtag teenage alien crew of the USS Protostar defeated the evil Diviner and are en route to rendezvous with Starfleet.
You have these amazing actors who are also huge Star Trek fans like Jameela Jamil and Jason Alexander. Does working with super fans like them make your job easier? Kevin Hageman: Oh, my God, it just makes everything... I don't want to say it's like you're all part of the same religion, but you all have that same purpose, right? You know, what Trek represents and how it only deserves the best.
Kevin Hageman: [Noum's] a little bit of a foil to Jankom Pog. And then, we knew we wanted an Andorian. We wanted to hit some classic species introduce kids to [them]. If they were to change the channel or jump onto the next Trek show, they would see some of these species.
