X-Men's Hellfire Gala is coming, and Professor X is showcasing a new costume that turns him into Magneto - in more ways than one.
The X-Men's founder Professor Charles Xavier is sporting an all-new outfit, and Magneto's name is written all over it. This year marks the first Hellfire Gala since Max Eisenhardt was permanently killed by the Eternal Uranos. Charles Xavier's couture costume for this year's function seems to evoke his fallen comrade.

Among them is the Hellfire Gala variant cover for Ultimate Invasion #2 from artist Lucas Werneck, the designer behind Charles' regalia for the third annual Hellfire Gala. This year, Charles dons his essential Cerebro unit and black catsuit combo with the additions of a metal bodice, a silver halo, and a dual cape.
Charles' New Costume Symbolizes His Descent into Villainy In many ways, the Krakoa era flipped Charles and Magneto's purposes. Magneto became a hero to mutants, finally delivering and fighting for the utopia he had promised. Meanwhile, Xavier became more secretive and distant, even imprisoning those mutants who he felt threatened his lifelong project.
Taken altogether, Charles Xavier's ensemble for the third annual Hellfire Gala is quite tragic. To many, it is his best Hellfire redesign yet, but below the surface, it reads as a desperate refusal to properly grieve one of his loved ones and a further descent towards villainy. Regal, remote, and rooted in the past, it distills who Charles is on the precipice of the Fall of X.
