Justice Gregory Geason pleaded not guilty to assault and emotional abuse or intimidation, saying the alleged victim stumbled and fell. But a Crown prosecutor described his account as 'contrived and false'.
The defence and prosecution have concluded their arguments in the assault and emotional abuse case against a Tasmanian Supreme Court judge.
Justice Geason is alleged to have assaulted a woman by grabbing, shaking and pushing her into a mantelpiece, causing bruising to her arms and chest, and a concussion. The defence earlier argued this was due to Justice Geason putting his hand up to stop her approaching, and picking her up off the floor, which defence counsel Fabiano Cangelosi said could be considered "consensual force", occurring during an argument.
Justice Geason earlier admitted in court to making some of the searches, but also suggested that his relatives may have made other searches."In the context of the rest of the evidence of the case, they are, in my submission, significant in incriminating conduct," he said.
