Protesters gathered Sunday morning at Border Field State Park and demonstrated for roughly two hours before marching a mile and a half through marshland and across a sandy beach to Friendship Park. Fanestil said President Joe Biden could halt construction with a simple executive order, which would give critics a year to come up with an architectural design for a newly envisioned Friendship Park. Protester Graciella Chong drove to the border from North County Sunday because she said the park and the walls are important issues.Protester Melissa Maher drove from Spring Valley because she considers the park an important symbol.
