Myth: Pore strips can help keep blackheads at bay OK, while the process of peeling off a pore strip is understandably super satisfying, they often do more harm than good. “What they’re actually removing is hair, dead skin cells and sebaceous filaments—certainly not blackheads” [which live much deeper inside pores], explains Dr. Nguyen. With regular use of pore strips, skin’s protective barrier gets disrupted and you’re left vulnerable to skin irritations like redness, hives and dry patches.
