Varron, DC's newest Green Lantern, has entered into an unholy alliance with the Revenant Queen, giving him an upgrade and turning him into a villain.
Warning: contains spoilers for Green Lantern War Journal #2!DC’s newest Green Lantern has just become a terrifying villain. The times are changing for the Green Lantern Corps, changes that have led to John Stewart leaving. The Guardians are not happy that Stewart still has power, and have taken steps to correct this oversight, sending the new Lantern Varron to do it.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Green Lantern War Journal #2 is written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and drawn by Montos. Out in space, Varron and two other Lanterns discover the Revenant Queen, who kills two of them. Sparing Varron, she senses the hate he has for John Stewart in his heart, and tells him: “let’s punish him together.” Shortly thereafter, the now super-charged Varron, accompanied by the reanimated corpses of his Lantern comrades, attack Stewart.
The Green Lantern Corps Have Undergone a Massive Change--And Not for tthe Good Varron’s new status is the direct result of the recent changes to the Green Lantern Corps. For eons, the Corps was an independent agency run by the Guardians of the Universe. However, the Guardians turned majority control of the Corps over to the United Planets, who promptly reorganized them. These changes alienated long-time Lanterns such as Hal Jordan and John Stewart.
