The Las Vegas Raiders have signed CB Cornell Armstrong to the practice squad, while also having released CB Rezjohn Wright and WR Marquez Callaway.
The team has been banged up at the cornerback position, particularly regarding cornerbacks Brandon Facyson, who has yet to play this season, Jakorian Bennett, who missed Week 5, and Nate Hobbs, who has been out the last two games.He was most recently waived by the Atlanta Falcons due to injury in early September after being placed on the IR in late August.made four starts in nine games for the Falcons last season. He finished the 2022 campaign with 33 combined tackles and seven passes defensed.
The 28-year-old cornerback had been with Atlanta since early December, 2021 after he was waived by the Houston Texans that September.Prior to his years with the Texans, the cornerback played his rookie season with the Miami Dolphins, who selected him in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Southern Mississippi.The Raiders also announced Tuesday they released cornerback Rezjohn Wright and wide receiver Marquez Callaway.
Wright was signed to the practice squad on Thursday after being waived by the Carolina Panthers back in August. Carolina signed him as an undrafted free agent back in April. Callaway, meanwhile, was signed to the Raiders' practice squad on Aug. 31, two days after he was waived by the Denver Broncos, who signed him back in March.
Callaway had previously played three seasons with the New Orleans Saints, with whom he made 17 starts in 42 games. He registered 1,069 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in his years with New Orleans.The Silver and Black will stay home at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas next week to play the New England Patriots
