Northeast Ohio native Scott Mescudi, better known as Kid Cudi, took the mound at Progressive Field on Friday.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Rapper Scott Mescudi, better known to hip-hop fans as Kid Cudi, celebrated the upcoming release of his new album ”Insano” on Friday when he threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Guardians game against Baltimore at Progressive Field.
The Grammy Award-winning artist danced his way to the mound before taking a bow and then firing a fastball that bounced about 10 feet short and left of Lucas Giolito crouched behind the plate. Friday was “Kid Cudi Day” at the ballpark as 10,000 fans received a bobblehead of Cudi sporting a chain in a No. 10 Guardians jersey and rocking a microphone stand. The 39-year-old rapper was born in Cleveland and attended school in Shaker Heights and Solon before hitting it big in 2009 with “Day ‘n’ Nite.”
Cudi’s music was featured throughout game breaks at the ballpark, and Cudi acted as an in-park host for the night, talking about tracks on his new album. Friday’s postgame fireworks were also set to be accompanied by music from Cudi’s catalog.
