An auction house, GreatCollections, announced on Sunday that it bought the rare Walton 1913 Liberty Head nickel for a whopping $4.2 million.
The five-cent coin previously sold at auction for over $3.17 million in 2013, according to the auction house."It is difficult to comprehend that all three 1913 Nickels in private hands have found new homes in the past 12 months, and I do not believe any of the three will be on theagain in the near future," Ian Russell, the president of GreatCollections, said in a statement. "It could be decades before we see one again.
