Nancy from 'Love Is Blind' shares how she built her 6-figure real-estate portfolio and achieved 'financial freedom'

The first home Rodriguez ever bought was an eyesore, and the second had been in a fire — but to her, they were"gold mines."Two years after becoming a speech-language pathologist, I had enough savings to buy my first home and pay off all of my debt at once. It wasn't easy getting there: I worked multiple jobs on top of being a speech pathologist, and I was eating rice and beans for most meals for over a year.
My second duplex had been in a fire. Its exterior and interior were damaged on both sides, but to me, it was another gold mine. I knew that I could start fresh after some rehab. Buying ugly and renovating later was a strategy I used whenever possible. The tenants I get from a month-long stay are much better. Often they're in town for business or need a temporary place to stay while their home is being finished. They're more respectful of the property and are overall easier guests.
Currently, I alternate between two cleaning companies that come in after each stay, and as part of our agreement, they inspect the property and report back. They send photos and let me know if there's damage, so I don't have to actually be there in person to follow up with a claim.
