Torrey Pines sophomore Logan Noguchi shines
Torrey Pines High sophomore Logan Noguchi got out of the pool, leaned over and took some deep breaths. He had just set his second San Diego Section record in this year’s championships.
Then, in recording a repeat title, Noguchi surpassed the 100 backstroke mark set in 2013 by Bishop’s Tom Anderson while improving by more than second from last year . “Absolutely, ever since last year, I’ve said that I’ve got to get it this year,” Brown said. “Mateo and I have been friends for years, so it was awesome to race him last year. Now to get the record, I’m super excited.”Lundgren bettered her own girls 100 breaststroke mark from last year while moving close to cracking the one-minute milestone with the state meet Friday and Saturday.
Canyon Crest junior Andrew Ko, who set the boys 100 breast record in the prelims, was off from that time to the D-I finals but still prevailed by more than two seconds. “I’m very excited,” Allison said. “I didn’t really have any expectations. I just went out and swam, and I did really good.”
