MANILA, Philippines — Birth certificates are valid for life and government agencies shouldn’t require applicants to submit a recently issued one, according to Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph

Recto was prompted to file a bill affirming the lifetime validity of legitimate birth certificates because of the practice of government and private offices requiring applicants for jobs or permits to submit a recently issued birth certificate.

An authenticated copy of a birth certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority costs P155, and home delivery costs P365.
