Red Hood loves using guns.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Red Hood is known for his use of guns, and some people might assume the only reason he uses guns is in rebellion against Batman's rules. But the truth is that Jason doesn't use guns to spite Batman — he uses them because Batman taught him how.
If a vigilante is going to join the Bat-Family, then they have to obey Batman's rules, which are fairly simple. The two big rules that Batman enforces are "no killing" and "no guns." Every single person who joins the Bat-Family is expected to follow these rules and is usually kicked out of Batman's trusted circle if they fail to do so.
Red Hood Learned to Shoot a Gun from Batman Jason's education in guns started in Batman #410 by Max Collins, Dave Cockrum, Mike Decarlo, Adrienne Roy, Todd Klein, and John Costanza. After Jason was taken in by Batman and began training to become Robin, he was taught numerous things he'd need on the job. This included hand-to-hand combat, how to use a crime lab, and computer science. But one of the most surprising things Jason was taught was how to use firearms, and not just a few either.
After Jason came back to life, he wanted revenge on both Batman and the Joker for his traumatic death. He wanted to kill Joker for killing him in the first place, and he wanted to kill Batman for refusing to kill Joker. The only problem was that Jason hadn't been taught to kill before his death. Batman taught him how to disable opponents, of course, but not anything lethal. In order to prepare, Jason mirrored Batman's journey and traveled around the world, learning from the best killers.
Red Hood's Love of Guns Started in the Batcave The most iconic part of Jason's Red Hood identity — the guns — exists because of Batman's training; Jason did not have to learn how to use guns on his journey to becoming a killer. Despite what people may think of the relationship between Batman and Jason Todd, one thing is undeniable: Jason truly learned everything Batman had to teach him.
