REDWOOD CITY – Officers shot and killed a man while responding to an apparent domestic violence incident Tuesday afternoon in Redwood City, police said.
Police said a call back to the cellphone went to voicemail. A cellular tower indicated the cellphone was in the 1500 block of El Camino Real and officers were sent to investigate. Police said the officers tried to negotiate with the man, but before communication could be established, they “perceived” he was trying to shoot the woman, children or both.Police said a loaded handgun was removed from the man and officers provided aid while medical personnel responded to the scene. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
