Salesforce shelled out millions for Matthew McConaughey’s creative advice, according to a new Wall Street Journal report.
The generic, uplifting tone has run through McConaughey’s Salesforce promotional videos as well, which focus around the company’s “Team Earth” initiative. Rather than attempting to sell the firm’s customer service management products, the promos tout togetherness and business as a for-good force.
In one commercial, which reportedly cost Salesforce $5 million to air during last year’s Super Bowl, the “Interstellar” star flies through San Francisco aboard a hot air balloon, wearing an astronaut suit and narrating a rhyming monologue about engaging with the world around us. At one point, he looks down on a crowd of virtual reality-headsetted San Franciscans and quips, “So while the others look to the Metaverse and Mars, let’s stay here and restore ours.
