Republican SEC commissioner Elad Roisman to step down next month

Elad Roisman, a Republican member of the Securities and Exchange Commission, said in a statement on Monday that he plans to resign from his position at the federal regulatory agency by the end of January.

"It has been the utmost honor to work alongside my extraordinary SEC colleagues, who care deeply about investors and our markets," Roisman said. Roisman's departure would give the five-member SEC a larger Democratic majority, as the commission currently has three Democratic members and two Republicans.
