Show is the second musical produced by CCAE Theatricals since its creation just before the pandemic in March 2020
If its sophomore production of the 2012 Broadway musical “Once” is any indication of what’s to come, Escondido’s new theater company CCAE Theatricals will become a solid and must-see presence in San Diego’s professional theater community.
The musical “Once” takes place in a pub, with a concert pre-show and the cast never leaving the stage and accompanying themselves on a myriad of instruments, including hammer dulcimer, concertina, melodica and ukulele. It’s a moody and personal story that works very well in the intimate Center Theater space.The bittersweet musical — which won eight Tony Awards, including best musical and best book — was adapted from John Carney’s 2007 indie film “Once.
