The latest NHS England figures published on Thursday reveal that figure has jumped by 500,000 people to 7.7 million – yet another record high. The waiting list is rising at roughly 100,000 people a month and shows no signs of coming down, let alone stabilising. The Prime Minister has chosen to blame ongoing industrial action, by junior doctors and consultants, for the steady rise.
