The Lewiston Sun Journal reported that authorities have named Robert Card, 40, as 'one possible suspect.'
Police have identified a suspect in a series of shootings Wednesday evening in Lewiston, Maine.Police told the Sun-Journal that Mr. Card may be driving a white Subaru Outback.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office released on its Facebook page two photos of a gunman walking into an establishment with an assault weapon raised to his shoulder, though it didn’t publicly identify the bearded, middle-aged White man. Casualty counts varied, with CNN reporting 16 deaths with dozens more injured and other news outlets saying the death toll already was at 22.
On its website, Central Maine Medical Center said staff were “reacting to a mass casualty, mass shooter event” and were coordinating with area hospitals to take in patients. The shootings occurred at three separate locations — Sparetime Recreation on Mollison Way about 7:15 p.m., then another shooting at Schemengees Bar & Grille Restaurant on Lincoln Street, and then a third at about 8:15 p.m. at the Walmart Distribution Center on Alfred A Plourde Parkway.
