Kraft, who has an April 9 status court date in West Palm Beach, and more than a dozen other men are facing charges. Kraft has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of solicitation. Covert surveillance equipment was installed Jan. 17 after a "sneak-and-peak" warrant was issued. "Because we do not live in a police state and our government answers to the rule of law, suppression of illegally obtained evidence is the correct and essential remedy," the filing states.“I know I have hurt and disappointed my family, my close friends, my co-workers, our fans and many others who rightfully hold me to a higher standard,” Kraft said in part in a written statement.
“Moreover, considering the low-level offenses under investigation, video surveillance was categorically unnecessary and inappropriate for the fundamental reason that the alleged offense is not legally serious enough to justify such a maximally invasive investigatory technique,” the motion states.WHO IS KRAFT?A closer look at the New England Patriots owner
It also states that the issuance of the warrant was predicated on “misstatements of fact and material omissions.”
