This school year, 13 Friendswood ISD fine arts grants worth $4,680 will be filled thanks to a new art-focused initiative that raised money for theater, music and art programs in the district.to organize an online auction featuring 36 original pieces from local and student artists as well as from some of the district’s fine arts educators., which were displayed at the Friendswood Library and sold online from Nov. 9 through Dec.

She said the initiative was particularly important since the foundation historically doesn’t receive as many requests for fine arts grants as for other aspects of education. “I think inspired some of the fine arts teachers who haven’t written grant before to do it, and showed them the community supports their programs,” Adair said.• With the support of 27 bidders, Westwood Elementary School pupils will have an opportunity to enjoy Main Street Theater’s traveling musical, “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!”
