A court in Moscow extended by three months the pretrial detention of Evan Gershkovich, the Wall Street Journal reporter deemed by the U.S. to be wrongfully held in Russia.

We are deeply disappointed he continues to be arbitrarily and wrongfully detained for doing his job as a journalist. The baseless accusations against him are categorically false, and we continue to push for his immediate release. Journalism is not a crime.
Russian Foreign Ministry officials have said that Moscow would consider a trade for Gershkovich only following a verdict in his case.
