Singapore Polytechnic and Vopak have signed a memorandum of understanding to increase the knowledge of Singapore Maritime Academy faculty members regarding proper handling of green marine fuels.
“SMA will tap on Vopak’s existing expertise in the safe handling of future marine fuels, including ammonia, biofuels and methanol to design a curriculum that is tailored to equip maritime professionals with the necessary skills for a net zero future,” a joint statement read. Chatur Wahyu, director of the Singapore Maritime Academy, Singapore Polytechnic, said the partnership will allow them to “develop a comprehensive training program for seafarers and maritime personnel, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to handle these fuels safely and efficiently.”The Centre of Excellence in Maritime Safety will also work with Vopak to improve safety for future maritime fuels through technology like virtual reality.
“This collaboration not only reinforces our commitment to maritime safety, but also drives Singapore’s journey towards becoming a leading sustainable multi-fuels hub,” said Rob Boudestijn, president of Vopak Terminals Singapore. ...there are many ways you can work with us to advertise your company and connect to your customers.
