Lowriders, typically customized vehicles with hydraulics that lower the chassis as close as possible to the road, are an art form. The lacquered bodies are often adorned with symbols of Mexican culture, including religious icons and pop culture figures along with geometric patterns and bright colors. They’re unapologetically bold, some with flames emerging from the exhaust pipes with a flourish.

In San Antonio, Texas, the lowrider scene is alive and well. The San Antonio International Airport is celebrating that vehicular tradition with a lowrider exhibit inside Terminal B called "Cruising into History—A Celebration of Lowriders in San Antonio” and it will be on display until October 26.Part of Hispanic Heritage Month, which kicked off September 15, the “Cruising into History” exhibit shows off lowriders and custom bikes on loan from local owners.

“A lowrider is an extension of a person, of their style, of their hard work and dedication. It's an expression of someone's pride, someone's joy. It's West Side style—we don't have much, but what we do have, we make it shine," exhibit curator and lowrider enthusiast Clint Westwood
