San Diego police officer hurt in City Heights scuffle [Breaking]

When officers arrived about 8:45 a.m., the suspect allegedly began hitting a patrol car with a 4-foot metal pole, police said. The suspect struck the officer while fleeing through a nearby Arco gas station.Police said the man was possibly under the influence of drugs, and a restraint device was used to apprehend him.

Both the officer and the suspect were taken to a hospital and subsequently released with minor injuries, police said. The suspect was then arrested, but the charges he faces were not immediately known.
