A two-alarm fire in San Francisco's Nob Hill district Wednesday afternoon critically injured one person, authorities said.
The call came in at 1:38 p.m. and the fire was contained an hour later. Firefighters rescued one person who was taken to a burn center in critical condition, the department said. A follow-up post on the @SFFDPIO Twitter account said the victim was being for serious injuries and a second victim was treated at the scene and released.
The fire on the second and third stories affected nine units of the 27-unit building. The Red Cross was notified of 20 people displaced because of the fire, as well as many pets, the department said. Firefighters planned to be at the scene for several more hours as of 4:08 p.m. Property owners were being allowed in to gather valuables
