Navigating the new normal: Addressing employee experience during COVID-19 paid SAP

COVID-19 has disrupted business as usual and organizations are working hard to address the challenges these disruptions have created. Importantly, organizations are asking employees to stay home and work remotely. However, if providing a laptop and approval to work from home are the only things an organization is doing, a critical moment to address the employee experience is being missed.

One of the fundamental things that humans desire is connection – as sense of belonging. We all want to be a part of a tribe. For many individuals, work provides a way to get this sense of belonging and community. However, individuals have suddenly been asked to stay home and work remotely.

For many large organizations or those that already had a significant remote workforce, getting employees up and running from home hasn’t been problematic. They have a solution in place to support remote work. Yet, this isn’t true for all organizations and many have been caught unprepared. The suggestions below are not exhaustive, and leaders have a responsibility to find ways to address employee experience for their organization. The important point is that organizations and managers must not miss this opportunity to address maximizing the employee experience. This is especially critical for managers and leaders as employees are looking to them to create a sense of normalcy.

Managers can also increase certainty by helping employees outline the goals they want to achieve during this time. With sudden changes to operating plans, many projects or previously set goals might now be irrelevant. Resetting priorities during this time will help employees feel a sense of control and direction.
