Scammers impersonate Takashimaya on Facebook, post $138 Chanel bag fake deal
SINGAPORE – Scammers created a fake Facebook page of Takashimaya Shopping Centre and used it to run a fraudulent advertisement involving a heavily discounted Chanel bag.
Many of the 1,100 reactions and comments on the post appear to be from bots or fake accounts, signalling that the scammers may have bought the engagement to make the ad appear more legitimate. “We wish to alert everyone that there are websites and social media accounts impersonating us by wrongfully using the Takashimaya logo and name, and that attempts at consumer fraud may have been made,” it said.
“We have reported these account and sites to the relevant authorities and will continue to monitor the situation.”
